The butterflies and the bees

Well we are back from camp bestival! Im tired just thinking about it

festivals with beds for seats...we like!

When we got there I was a little tired so I had a sleep! Something to do with the fact that Rob made us get up at 430am! Which meant we were one of the first to arrive. Actually quite glad as we have had hell getting into some festivals over the years. Camp bestival was suprisingly easy. No horrors of an hours walk (no exaggeration) to the campsite a la download. Probably something to do with the fact Camp Bestival is a family festival. 5,000 children were in attendance...they were actually everywhere!

I came out of my tent one morning to find a baby sat directly outside looking at me like she owned the place! I had to shoo her off with my broom! (thats a joke before anyone calls the NSPCC)

look at the little blighters..they are everywhere!

On the plus side it made for quite a relaxed atmosphere. I was not woken at 5 in the morning by someone trying to run me over with a trolly or trying to blow my head off with a gas canister...but if Im honest I felt something was missing. There is nothing quite like the fear you feel when going to sleep on the last night at Reading festival followed by the relief when you wake up alive on monday morning! I felt kind of cheated by the fact everyone was tucked up in bed sleeping soundly when I arrived back at my tent...saying that I did get a nice nights sleep so I mustn't grumble too much ;)

Highlights for me had to be Frankie Boyle and Goldie Lookin Chain

the mighty GLC

...and then there was the dancing and lots of it.

Experienced my first silent disco too. Which pleasently suprised me. Oddly I thought that silent meant silent and such a thing would consist of a load of people in a room pilled up dancing to nothing but strobe lighting. But in fact you get headphones with actual music in. I found it rather entertaining to take my headphones off in the middle to see people singing along and going nuts!

disco disco disco

The food was also good. Lovely curry and all sorts of delights! I must do a big shout out to the WI tea ladies...your date and walnut cake rocked my world!

The festival itself was well put together and a good time was had by all. I especially loved the dressing up theme! No where else is it acceptable for me to be dressed in wings and a tutu
me looking lush!

Christina also looking lush

Im not sure Id go again, as it was a tad wholesome for my tastes,

10 out of 10 for family fun!
1 out of 10 for drunken crazy dangerous fun
depends what you are looking for eh!

In addition the fact that you are only allowed to camp from the friday made me feel a little short changed and unlike Christina and Rob Im not a fan of drum and bass so the acts lacked something for me.

I expect in fairness I will be back if have children or they improve the lineup (play some metal for goodness sake!!!) although the festival was only on its second year so I shall have to give them the benefit of the doubt

The gang want to do glastonbury next year which will be nice! Maybe Ill get another chance to wear my wings!

Before I depart I leave you with this...our very own silent disco!

Thanks for having us Mr Da Bank!

Camp Bestival baby!!!

Very excited as on the weeked it is time for me to sit in a field dressed as a butterfly (lets hope the sun comes out or I shall be a damp butterfly)
anyway here is a sneak preview of my outfit and my truly awesome wings!!

Anyway I wonder what treats the weekend will have in store. Will Rob manage to put up our tent without being the worlds angriest boy scout, how will christina look dressed as a bee, will Ruby enjoy herself :)?

so many questions.

Looking at the website it does look to be much more of a clean and friendly family festival to what we are used to (probably a good thing! getting old! Im nearly 27 you know!).

I imagine it will be a far cry from the craziness of campsite golf, duracell battery discos, hoedowns, glow sticks, scottish men called lauren, trolly jousting and riot police :)

Though who can tell what you will get when you cross a sparkly butterfly a bee, 12 litres of cider and an angry boy scout? :)

Look out dorset!

my favourite poem ever

I love this poem! It was the reading at my best mates wedding a couple of years ago, so unfortunately I can't have it as a reading at my own wedding. Sounds best read by a small girl called Shirley with a Northern irish accent!

Id forgotton about it and came across it again today. So here it is :)
(yes Im going soft in the head!)

Love Is...

Love is...
Love is feeling cold in the back of vans
Love is a fanclub with only two fans
Love is walking holding paintstained hands
Love is.
Love is fish and chips on winter nights
Love is blankets full of strange delights
Love is when you don't put out the light
Love is
Love is the presents in Christmas shops
Love is when you're feeling Top of the Pops
Love is what happens when the music stops
Love is
Love is white panties lying all forlorn
Love is pink nightdresses still slightly warm
Love is when you have to leave at dawn
Love is
Love is you and love is me
Love is prison and love is free
Love's what's there when you are away from me
Love is...

Dizzy dizzy dizzy dizzy

Im partaking currently in a couple of cheeky glasses of the westons 1880 cider. Yes I know its 8.2% and a Tuesday but its been a long week already.

Gave someone I work with a lift home and they spent all the journey talking about how they can't stop drinking on a week night. I had no intention of having a drink of anything but after 30 mins of that kind of talk I was ready to drink flaming sambucas and paint the shire red!

I think my friends are a bad influence on me. I'm sure they would argue its the other way round but its not I tell you. I was a nice girl once they ruined me!

They would disagree! But dont listen to them its all lies I tell you.

oooh ooh in exciting news I passed my level one Ice skating course last night! Im like a proper Jane Torvill now! See you at the winter olympics :)

seriously tho! really looking forward to september when my level 2s start! Proud of myself that I only fell over 3 times over a period of 6 weeks! yey!

anyway...Im off!

Setting traps for burglers

Rob has selfishly gone on some sort of team building day leaving me to fend for myself.

Tho I'm relatively good on my own (Lets be honest I'm not a people person :) Im feeling at somewhat of a loose end! Its odd when you live with someone you spend most of the day thinking:

'This room would be nice if there wern't dirty boy socks all over the floor' and 'for the love of god turn off the F'ing playstation I want to watch 'Ladette to Lady' (which incidently I watched on ITVPlayer last night and it was fan-tas-tic! - (yeah yeah stop judging me!))

However when they disappear its a really odd feeling. Even tho I can now jump around my house to bad 80s rock, watch what the hell I want on TV and have Leek and chicken bake for tea if I like..

I feel lost in my own home!

Right! need to go and do something constructive I shall be back later with the outcome of my creative endeavours....and I need to go and buy some leeks.
oh this made me chuckle..cos Im simple :)

ich will dass ihr mich versteht

A few things...

1) Waffles are amazing! I am a bit obsessed with them, just had one of these bad boys from tescos and it was awesome...yum yum yum :)

2) If you thought the pic in my last blog was bad I just found this beauty of me on facebook. How kind and thoughtful of one of my work mates to upload it. If I was wanting a promotion this should definately land me it - that or a modelling contract who could say. Stunning. One of the worst Ive seen in a while - dont recall it being taken (which probably won't suprise you!)

3) Carry on my wayward son by Kansas is a great tune.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pw6_VXPwm6U&feature=related

Just listened to it about a billion times so thought I should mention it! :)

Argh being shouted at to do some cleaning so I shall have to cut myself short...to be continued :)

I did a picture

I took it on the webcam for my mac which I have no idea how to use :) So this is an achievement!
